Microsoft Teams: how to join with a VTC

When joining a Teams meeting from a VTC, there are 3 main approaches, depending on your preferences and the type of services you have signed up for:

1. Touch screen or remote control. (Available for all.)

2. MMV Mobile App. (Requires a Pexip EUL license and an endpoint subscription.)

3. Meeting Room Mode

(In this article we will discuss items 1 and 2. For item 3, please see this article.)

1. Using remote control or touch screen

Using the remote control or the VTC's touch screen, you can either call via a virtual reception or directly.

1.1 Dial-in via Virtual Reception

1. Find the address in the invite and enter using remote / touch screen.

(Typically, the address is similar to teams@company.com)

2. Enter Conference ID on the VTC system.

If the VTC is on the Pexip service, it will be allowed automatically into the meeting. If not, it will be placed into a Teams lobby waiting to be admitted.

1.2 Dial directly

1. Open the invitation and click on the link "Alternate VTC dialling instructions"

2. Enter the address found under "Join directly".

If the VTC is on the Pexip service, it will be allowed automatically into the meeting. If not, it will be placed into a Teams lobby waiting to be admitted.

2. Using MMV Mobile app

Important: Note that this option requires an active Pexip EUL license and an endpoint subscription.

First the user needs to download and install the MMV Mobile App, and allow the app to read the calendar used for Teams invites. For details on how to set up the app, please see this article. There is also a requirement that the user has an active Enterprise User License.

Using the MMV Mobile app to join a MS Teams meeting with VTC gives you two alternatives:

  1. Join from a list of VTCs, or
  2. Join via QR scan

2.1 Join from list of VTC

1. Open the MMV App on your phone.
Go to the 'Meetings' tab and select your Teams meeting.

2. Choose "Join from list of VTC" and select the VTC you want to use.

3. Answer the incoming call to your VTC room on the Touch panel or remote control.

2.2 Scan QR code

If your organization has adopted QR codes to join video meetings, you can view this article on how to use your MMV Mobile app for easy connection.
