Videxio supports Microsoft Skype for Business and the ability to combine Skype for Business with standards based video conferencing endpoints, personal/mobile clients and high quality virtual meeting rooms. This offers maximum employee flexibility and allows customers to attend meetings with high quality audio and video using their Microsoft Skype for Business client.
Which Microsoft clients are supported?
Videxio support Skype for Business 2016, Lync 2013, Lync 2010, OCS 2007 R2 and Lync for Mac 2011 on premise solutions as well as Lync Online (Office 365) for Windows.
For the remainder of this article, 'Skype for Business' will be used to include all supported clients.
How does the integration with Skype for Business work?
Skype for Business users will now be able to enjoy business quality video with one or more participants in virtual meeting rooms inside and outside their organization.Skype for Business users can leverage Videxio’s cloud-based service to communicate over video with other standards-based video systems, software clients or mobile devices. Leveraging our global quality of service video network, this will enable seamless collaboration between traditional H323/SIP video conferencing from vendors such as Cisco, Tandberg, Lifesize and Polycom, and browser based solutions such as WebRTC anywhere in the world.
How can I join a meeting with my Skype for Business client?
- In the search field of the Skype for Business client, enter “conferenceID@vmr.vc”.
- Select “Start a Video Call”. See figure below.
- If asked for a conference code, type in the conference code using the number keys, finish with #.

Why do Skype for Business users need to dial a different domain (vmr.vc) on Videxio?
Videxio is offering domain hosting, so that customers can have the same video address domain as their email/company domain. That works well for standards-based video, but for Skype for Business calls it would mean that Videxio would need to host the customers’ domain certificates required for Skype for Business signalling to work. This can work for an on-prem solution, but for a cloud solution it is neither scalable (probably a 1000x complexity on the infrastructure) nor often actually not acceptable for the customers.
Will it be possible to share content with a Skype for Business participant?
Yes, content sharing is supported. The Skype for Business participant will be able to receive content from the Virtual Meeting Room. The participant will also be able to share content (using either "Present Desktop" and "Present Program") into the Virtual Meeting Room from their Skype for Business client. The "Present Powerpoint Files" feature is not supported, however Powerpoint presentations can be fully shared using either of the two previously mentioned methods.
