How does a Skype for Business user invite/call a device on Videxio into a Skype for Business meeting?

  • The device on the Videxio service should be in the Skype for Business contact list (via AD).
  • Search for it, and add it to the meeting.
  • The device must be invited by a meeting presenter/host.
  • Please make sure that your Skype environment is federated towards the domain ms.videxio.com, unless you are running with an open federation policy.

Videxio does not recommend having regular users manually convert their SIP URIs on Videxio, however this is the process.

Example: If the SIP URI for the device on the Videxio service is:

boardroom@company.com

The converted SIP URI for the Skype for Business client to dial would be:

boardroom__company.com@ms.videxio.com

How does a user dial from a device on the Videxio service into a Skype for Business meeting?

For this, the user would need a control application that can read the calendar invitation and convert the meeting link to a SIP URI. The following control applications can be used for that:

  • Videxio MMV (new)
  • Existing room control system
  • Synergy Sky Meeting Server

How to schedule a Skype for Business meeting to include a device or user on the Videxio service?

Schedule a new Skype for Business meeting in Microsoft Outlook through the normal workflow and add the required devices on the Videxio service to the meeting invitation. A prerequisite for this is that the VC systems are added to Microsoft Exchange as a Room resource.

Just create the devices on the Videxio service as a normal user in AD. And set the attribute msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress to the SIP address of the VC system. Then you can just look up the device in your local Skype for Business contact list and right click and click Start Video Call to make the call.

I am not able to share content from my video system into the Skype for Business meeting. What to do?

Make sure the video system participant has presenter rights in the Skype for Business meeting. In the Meeting Options, you can set the configuration “Who´s a presenter” to ´Anyone (no restrictions) ´. Or you can right click on the video system in the participant list in the Skype for Business conference and select ´Make a Presenter´.

How to test and perform demos when you do not have a PREMIUM Endpoint Subscription available?

The best way to do this is to create a trial Premium subscription. Remember, you can’t create a trial subscription with the same name as an existing subscription. Thus, for i.e. meetingroom@partnername.com you would create a new trial subscription with a new video address, for example meetingroom.skypetest@partnername.com. This way we avoid upgrading endpoints for 1 day, and creating billing issues and spending time on doing the upgrade and subsequent downgrade.
